Personal highlights for Niykee include being selected by a scout to join Snoop in the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, as well as writing songs despite all the turmoil in the last couple of years. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers, she regularly combs through beats she receives and discovers that a lot of them end up sparking song ideas. When I sit on my porch and play guitar, the lyrics just come out and can be done in less than 30 minutes. Niykee continues to develop her abilities as a poet and the lyricist. She says that the trauma she endured in the past has served as an infinite source of unusual motivation. When I'm not writing directly about events that have occurred to me, the hurt of growing up and the loss of my sister end up getting pushed into my songs, she states. The music I write is formed by this and I feel the deeper meaning underneath all of it. This is one of the aspects that are most important for me.
